Tetiba menikmati "angel"

Tetiba malam ini ingin sekali aku mendengar lagu "Angel" -nya Sarah McLachan, dan asliii ini lagu bikin hati gerimis, penasaran dengan makna di dalam nya, aku coba untuk mencari tau asal muasal makna lirik lagu ini, hm...tapi sebelumnya coba resapi lirik nya dulu ya... *belajarBahasaInggrisModeOn* ^_^

Gimana...nyess kan ya liriknya, sedih abis, bisa memiliki arti makna yg berbeda si, tergantung "penikmat" nya, tapi disini, aku mau kasih tau hal maksud sebenernya ni lirik ....

Awal pertama kali dengerin, lagu ini cukup membuat perasaan adem dan tenang. Karena lagunya juga lembut untuk didengar, tapi makna sebenarnya adalah tentang kecanduan obat2an terlarang, misal: heroin dan kokain, untuk menutupi segala masalah/kesedihan yg dimiliki. Nah, lagu ini ditulis Sarah setelah dia membaca berita tentang kematian banyak musisi yg meninggal akibat overdosis obat-obatan itu.

Saat seseorang punya masalah berat yg susah ditangani (to feel not good enough, and it's hard, at the end of the day), maka dia menggunakan obat2an sebagai pengalih perhatian (I need some distraction.) Lalu dia menggunakan obat2an dg cara disuntik (Memories seep from my veins.)

Akhirnya dia bisa melupakan masalah dan ga ada beban yg harus dipikirkan (Let me be empty, weightless) dan akhirnya menjadi tenang dalam kematian (And maybe I'll find some peace tonight.)

Kematian membuat lebih nyaman (In the arms of the angel) daripada ruangan tempat menyuntik obat2an dan segala permasalahan yg ada (from this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you feel.)

Kalo kembali ke jalan tanpa obat2an, yg ada hanyalah segala masalah yg bertubi-tubi menimpa (So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn, there's vultures and thieves at your back.)

Makanya daripada menghadapi itu semua lebih baik make obat2an walaupun akhirnya mati (escape one last time) karena lebih mudah untuk terbuai dalam kesenangan semu (It's easier to believe in this sweet madness).

Uppss...ya kurang lebih gitu deh makna lirik lagu yang katanya keren itu, ngeBarat banget sii pola pikir ni lagu, tapi tak apalah sekali waktu coba belajar translate lagu, kali aja bisa menambah pinter otak di kepala ini, yang udah lama ga deep thinking in English...hehe kangen waktu kuliah dulu di FKIP Bhs Inggris UNILA...
